Midnight

As soon as I turned off the light, the midnight ambiance turned eerie, the silent cold accentuating the frightening uneasiness prevailing all around.

I got up on my bed and went straight under the blanket, resisting the urge to run to the switch board and brighten the room.

"I have to be brave, there is nothing called ghosts," I tried to convince my heart, but the ploy didn't work as I noticed the hair on my hands rising on their ends.

The moonlight glanced naughtily through the window, and my sight suddenly went up to the ceiling, where a mysterious shadow had crept, looking all set to pounce on me any moment.

"Aarghhh," I ran out of the room shouting, the shadow following me; little did I notice that it was my stupid shadow that had frightened me.
