The Moon isn't free,
But am going to get it,
And gift it to you.
Soldiers return home,
War over, destruction nods,
Are we free yet?
Free birds laugh and mock,
Look, he resides in a cage,
They ignore his tears.
Are best things in life,
Really free to obtain
The answer confused.
Love, happiness, trust,
Lack monetary value,
But you pay the price.
September Heights done,
My free mind though, asks for more,
Let's try Carpe Diem.
This Haiku is shared with Haiku Heights and the Prompt is Free.
Oh--these are great!
ReplyDeleteI specially like the soldier returning home ~ That is a powerful example of fighting for freedom, yet not being free ~

ReplyDelete"Are we free yet?" is an excellent question.
ReplyDelete"We are free ... as long they don't come knocking on our door and transport us to a place where THEY are free to silence us " ... my granmother said those words in January 1945 ... They took her away and silenced her ... haven't seen her since ...

ReplyDeleteThank You Patti :-)
DeleteAll of them lovely, GS.
ReplyDeleteBirds are freer than humans, that's why envious man puts them in cages to catch their freedom...
Man will be free when his heart is not chained to ambition; wars are a consequence of ambition.
True love is free and the only way to "pay for" it is loving more and more.
Rich people cannot buy the most important things in life: love (they just pay for sex), intelligence (they just pay for academic degrees), beauty (they just pay for surgery or beautiful pieces of art they cannot make) and happiness (they just buy expensive things, but cannot buy true love, intelligence or true beauty).
:)
You have summed it up so beautifully .... Thanks Dulcina :-)
DeleteThank you for steering me toward Carpe Diem!
