The presence of absence,
A divine glass of wine,
Forever you would be mine.
That rainy night we met,
As you shivered beside the fire place,
My crazy heart leaped to race.
The glasses broke in silence,
You played the strings of my soul,
Glad to play this passionate role.
An unknown angel descended,
Interrupting the climax of our game,
Your eyes surrendered in shame.
You held his hand with urge,
A response I never anticipated,
My thoughts broken and dejected.
I called you and shouted for you,
The clouds shielding my cry,
Perhaps they were the defenders of your lie.
I sit beside that fireplace,
Counting tearing hours of your absence,
'Cause I couldn't give up on your presence.

DeleteHow sad. I like the fireplace imagery used to frame the piece, appearing both at the beginning and the ending.
ReplyDeleteThank You for visiting :-)
DeleteWhile it is absence that is the topic you make felt the heavy presence which in turn makes the empty even more empty. Well done for both prompts!
