cracks grow old
but remain
steady
like the fissures in her eyes
enveloping dark streams
of kohl
that captured dreams
once
now long for nourishment
harboring hopes
of a new beginning
cracks grow old
and wise
and through it she emerges
a phoenix
rising from the ashes
of grief and sorrow
to a world of smiles
and faithful promises
cracks may break
and yet
they shape up our lives
This Poem is shared with IGWRT - Fireblossom Friday.
Beautifully done, Green Speck. More than our successes, it is our failures that teach us, make us grow, give us strength and challenge us to evolve.
ReplyDelete"Harboring hopes for a new beginning" says it all.
Thanks Mixi :-)

DeleteWow...Your play with words is so tamed and composed...wish I too could :/
ReplyDeleteOld cracks are gloomy and breaking but might give rise to something better and even...a fresh whiff of scented air might escape from the crack to reach one's senses ..hopefully
Thanks Sadia ... I don't know what you mean ... you are a wizard of words yourself, as your poems suggest :-)

DeleteIt's kind of neat how cracks tell stories in many ways don't they? They have seen so much throughout the years.
ReplyDeleteAnd that's how they guide us in life :-)
DeleteLast Stanza is awesome, even cracks have the ability to guide our lives, experience is a great teacher. Failure or success, all serve a purpose.
