The Story Of My Story

As I typed the last few words on my laptop, I experienced a unique feeling of bliss, a sense of contentment that was hidden since long.

I admired with satisfaction the MS Word document that proudly displayed the sixty thousand words that I had keyed in over the last few hours.

This was my child, my masterpiece, something that I had always dreamt of. Soon, I would be a household inspiration; people would read me and love me and would aspire to become someone like me.

I wasn't being complacent, it's just that I knew my story really deserved to be at the top.

I heard a sudden beep, and the laptop screen blackened. Low battery, perhaps, since I had not attached the charger to the laptop.

Due to some unknown reason, the machine had completely shut down instead of hibernating. Not a big deal though.

I connected the charger, plugged on the electric supply and restarted the laptop.

And then the thought struck me like a flash of lightning.

I had not saved the document...

  5. It happened at that odd moment during a sudden blackout. It put paid to the long hours and efforts for nothing. It happened once. There was no blackout in a thousand years but it did! Nicely crafted GS!

  12. Oh my! :o

I didn't learn a lesson from an incident that happened a few years ago. It wasn't a very important document. It was after I had lost a literary piece a few months ago that I understood the importance of the word Save out there. :D

Now, whenever I write, I believe, I press the Ctrl+S every two minutes.

Very nicely written, Amrit! LOVED it! :D
