Fallen Leaf

believe
in deception
'cause that's what you will face
if not today, then tomorrow
uncover those smiles
rugged morphed wails
shrouding the dawn
but
the sun would rise
heart penitent
restoration
of sanity and wisdom
purity comes to light
holding hands with evil
and what do you make of it?
B-A-L-A-N-C-E
a six letter word
encompassing universal truth
as good hugs the bad
and you smile tears at the moon

don't waste away that trust
accumulated over sands of memories
you searched for them in myriad grains, remember?

relish the bloom before it's too late
a tribute to life
to joy and grief
'cause you never know
tomorrow you might be just another fallen leaf

  2. I loved this one very much. Very evocative. I interpreted it several different ways...which, as I've said before, is always the sign of good poetry!

  3. I like the depthful message here. Sad but true ending...often one doesn't know one's fate just around the corner.

  12. I think trees tell the real story. Sadly few can hear the words they whisper. I am glad your words had my mind spinning away like a falling leaf.
