In the market place today
Apologies are on sale
Some fixed prices
Others variable
Proudly displayed in glass cases
That crack, and un-crack
With the tears of men
And women
Boys girls and animals
That bled in salt
Sometimes, someday
Apologies bought and gifted
Wounds covered with band-aids
But the scar remains!
This Poem is shared with
So true! Well expressed.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary :-)
DeleteNice poetry! The scar is forever! But better a scar that an open wound!
ReplyDeleteThank You Leovi :-)

DeleteVery nice, G.S.
ReplyDeleteIt is sooooo true, the scars do remain.
Some still hurt, others we have learned.

DeleteSome apologies are never enough ~ Good one GS ~
ReplyDeleteThanks Grace :-)
DeleteYes, well said: no matter how hard an apology, it's powers are limited.
ReplyDeleteThank You Susan :-)
DeleteI heard somewhere... I can forgive, but I can't trust you again because of the scar you gave me. This poem reminded me of that.
ReplyDeleteThanks Leo :-)
Deletethe trouble is that people do often use them as if they're expendable.
ReplyDeleteI agree :-)
Deleteyes.the hypocrisy and the insensitivity of the times make things worse.
ReplyDeleteThat sure is the case !!!
DeleteBeautiful....(y)
ReplyDeletekeep writing...:)
Thanks Mani :-)
DeleteScars, laser treatments cannot erase.
ReplyDeleteYup :-(
DeleteWhat a cool concept!
ReplyDeleteI love this a lot. If we would just think before we act or speak, perhaps we wouldn't need the apologies or wound to leave scars.
ReplyDeleteThank You Susie :-)
Deleteso true...apologies...easy to ask and hard to give...but still we give it so that can be wounded n scared again ..
ReplyDeleteThanks Sadia ... I agree :-)
DeleteSo true - you can cover them, but the scars remain.
ReplyDeleteThank You Robyn :-)
Deletebeautiful and painful... they so often float on the same breeze.
ReplyDeleteThat's what makes it a mystery !!!
DeleteThe first four lines are such a cool metaphor! Perhaps cheaper by the dozen? :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Margaret :-)
DeleteSo true, apologies often mean little and aren't enough to erase the pain,,,I can relate to this one,
ReplyDeleteThank You Ellecee :-)
DeleteOh yes, the scars remain. Every memory is as fresh as day one.
ReplyDeleteThanks J :-)
DeleteThis is one of your best so far, Amrit. The concept is so different yet so familiar. Wise words. Keep it up! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for our constant encouragement Vaishali :-)
Deletebought and sold... what is really bought and sold...
ReplyDeleteThat's how apologies are today !!!
DeleteAh, does supply exceed demand? Are they cheap or dear? Very well done.
ReplyDeleteWell I guess that's the current trend :-)
DeleteApologies are very valuable because when genuine they come from the heart and mean every word they say. They can be a balm to heal wounds. Beware of imitations that speak words and looks that reveal insincerity hidden in trite phrases and downward glances.
ReplyDeleteRight ... beware of imitations :-)
DeleteYes, the scars remain.
ReplyDeleteI love it, well expressed!
