Recollections

Recollections,
Reminiscence,
Riding on the past,
Sweeping my presence,
Dust wrapped in time,
Minutes, seconds ticking along,
A momentary gaze,
Silence.

Recollections,
Nostalgia,
Sweet and bitter,
Quitter, the Winner,
Memories stagnant,
Eyes low,
Smiling curve,
Flickering nerve.

Recollections,
Memoir,
Parallel words,
Disjointed tales,
Lies, trust, love, betrayal,
Hugging me tight,
Sailing towards the light,
I, tired with my last fight.

This Poem is shared with Theme Thursday and the Prompt is Recollections.

  1. You're a natural when it comes to expressing what we as humans feel. What you wrote is exactly what recollections comprise of.

  2. I think every day we have recollections of what has gone before us and also in our dreams we might see things that could possibly be a part of our future. This was a really great poem about recollections and I truly enjoyed it. You have a way with words.

Thank you so much for joining us at Theme Thursday and sharing this poem of Recollections. I am looking forward to see many more.

    God bless.

  3. You have such wonderful rhyme in this. I liked the contrasts, 'sweet and bitter', 'quitter and winner', and 'parallel and disjointed'. Really felt the sentiment in this.

ps~Sorry for such a delayed visit, more of my time is being consumed by children lately. :)

  4. The flow, the words that you chose to use in this piece.. the details. I loved every minute of it! It has a sense of irony as well.. and I'm a sucker for irony! Well written and expressed!

  5. Recollections or memories seem to haunt me at night, and I feel vulnerable at that time so I try to pen down each of my passing thoughts and emotions in my poetry's...yours sound just so true! I really liked this one.

  6. The poem is touching, no doubt, but I'd like to say something about the way you write these down. I totally love the meter; they have such nice flow to it... it's like words and emotions juggling one after the other and not leaving you long until the poem is over. Loved it! :)

  7. I try to control my recollections/memories by whisking by the bitter ones and focusing on the very best....avoidance works for me....your poetry is musical....

  11. It seems I'm always 24 hours behind everybody else when it comes to comments...I sense a lot of pain in this..quitters, losers, flickering nerve, bitter, tired from the last fight..it's hard to let go of those kinds of recollections..they are a part of us...while trying focusing on the better ones, the old twinges have a way of penetrating through as predominant feelings....
