Gloss

Superficial gloss,
Camouflaging deception,
Torturing the heart.

Wicked mind awaits,
Glossy surface stirs evil,
Goodness blindfolded.

This Haiku is shared with Haiku Heights and the Prompt is Gloss.

  3. Loved the take! Very nicely weaved, the thoughts around the words!

  4. Nice thoughts but if you will permit my honest comments: I think its best that you describe a single clear image, instead of general idea like evil and goodness ~

Think of it like a brush, capturing the color and shape of a specific image in the canvas like this:

    black crow awaits
    fallen apples, sweet and glossy,
    autumn leaves cry

    ~ Hope you don't mind ~

    1. Grace,
just curious -- is the traditional haiku form describing a single image rather than general concepts? I know I don't follow anything other than my own amusement but I'm always interested in the theory.

It seems to me that the general/philosophical statements leave it more open for others to project thoughts and feelings.

    2. That's a beautiful rendition Grace. Thanks for this wonderful insight. I will try to capture the colors rather than the image in the future :-)

    3. Hi Judith,
The traditional form of haiku does follow a single image and not the general concept. Haiku should be left open to interpretations by the readers. Thanks for visiting :-)

  6. As Grace also said 'maybe not the evil and goodness theme', but I love the haiku set really.

  11. Surely the girl in the picture is the protestor/victim not the perpetrator/evil?!! Reminds me of the free speech movement and protest against hypocrisy that gave birth to some 60s music like the Stones "Sympathy for the Devil." Great gloss.

  12. All the time I was thinking of lip gloss. So, your set of haiku just grabbed me. I went another direction, though.
    Loved your haiku!

  18. Gloss is what we put on something (lips, lies) to make it look better.
