Anomaly raised,
Quivering brow of puzzle,
Paradox questioned.
Dribbling with logic,
Wandering across mind's crests,
A passion of thought.
Paradoxical,
Simplest of complexity,
Contradicting self.
This Haiku is shared with Haiku Heights and the Prompt is Paradox.
Nice one. Maybe it's a conundrum.
ReplyDeleteI think this is too generic and broad ~ Haiku has to be clear yet deep enough for various interpretations ~ I hope you don't mind my honest comment ~
ReplyDeleteThanks for the wonderful suggestions Grace ... I will keep this in mind going forward :-)
DeleteI liked this alot.....what Grace said may be true, but I think most of us take license writing haiku, concentrating more on the 5-7-5 than 'deep meaning' most of the time.....Sometimes I hit the nail, and other times I hit the wall.....
ReplyDeleteJoanne,
Deleteand my thumb is permanently black and blue!
Thanks Joanne ... writing is really about hitting nails and walls :-P
DeleteJudith, so is mine ;-)
DeleteWONDERFUL - your last SUMS it all up WITHOUT ADDING a word.
ReplyDeleteAside to Grace - I admire the traditional haiku and I enjoy the 21st-century-western-world interpretation of the form. I think there's enough creativity to have a place for all. Kinda like realism and abstraction in painting or classical and contemporary music etc. No?
I know a few things about contradiction. I am a living breathing Paradox! Brilliant words from the king of haiku himself! :) It was lovely! And I so get it!!
ReplyDeletecontradiction self.. sigh how true.
ReplyDeleteSimplest, yet....challenging.
ReplyDeleteI especially enjoyed the 'quivering brow of puzzle' an oft appropriate description. Nice take on a tough prompt!
ReplyDeleteThanks Barbara :-)
DeleteI enjoyed your set today - my favourite the last with "Simplest of complexity" which is indeed paradoxical :-)
ReplyDeleteThank You Ellecee :-)
DeleteParadoxical,
ReplyDeleteSimplest of complexity,
Contradicting self.
You got it right there, Green! A paradox well taken in all its meaning!
Hank
Thanks Hank :-)
DeleteReally interesting rigid piece. I like that you stretched single words to fit the syllable count, not easy to do. I think that there was enough thought provoked here. :)
ReplyDeleteThank You Archna :-)
DeleteBeautiful expression of thoughts ! Paradoxes do defy logic and reason ! the contradictory self and multiple personalities and so on and also our ever changing thoughts and style of writing...all are examples of beautiful paradoxes !
ReplyDeleteThanks Sanghamitra :-)
DeleteI liked the simplest of complexities..nice set...
ReplyDeleteThank You Odyzz :-)
DeleteFascinating haiku!
ReplyDeleteQuivering brow of puzzle ... what great personification!!! Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jolly :-)
DeleteSuperb use of metaphor.
ReplyDeleteI loved the last one...Very thoughtful..made me think!
