The Golden Veil

The eyes that speak
Through the golden veil
Damp at the edges
Sharp at the core.

She hides those tears
Longing for his touch
The patience unmasked
Shouts bare promises.

Futile hope
Wrinkles her smile
The fingers once curled
Now lost in the wood.

The wood of darkness
A void in her heart
Embracing her misery
She shouts in silence.

Her lips painted red
For kisses to be exchanged
They remind her of failure
And throbbing pain within.

The eyes that speak
Through the golden veil
Damp at the edges
Sharp at the core.
