it rained flames on hell today
burning me, my skinless soul
as I ran to seek a shelter
I encountered a depressed ghoul
escape not you can
the rain is here to drench
you are dead, but the pain will sting
we suffer constantly in this trench
for lies that were forgotten
tears we took for granted
even the slightest of sins we now repent
death has afterlife well documented
the fire in the skies
mercy no longer a privilege
oh how I wished to return back to Earth
to erase the faults listed on my page

ReplyDeleteWhat a philosophical write..i hope really that nobody has to suffer the eternal pain of hell
ReplyDeleteThanks Jae :-)
DeleteWhew, this poem has 'heat.' Really must be sad to look back from the flames of hell recognizing there is no way out...that it is too late.
ReplyDeleteThank You Mary :-)

You are welcome :-)
DeleteWhew!!! Wow! Have to say, I love the incredible burning imagery and the darker undertones.. It's the perfect depiction of hell and can be viewed in several ways, including ones personal struggle to rise above their self inprisonment as often we find ourselves confined by our own thoughts and demons. I could go on and on. Wow! Amrit, I'm impressed! Excellent work!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Crystal :-)
DeleteThe sting of this fiery rain we should heed....but somewhere there is forgiveness too and I think it puts out the fire.
ReplyDeleteForgiveness brings relief and peace :-)
DeleteThis poem resonates with me. I ALREADY know I am going to wish just that when I do my life review and pass over. I think back already to the many horrible moments when I was unthinking or oblivious. Sigh. You have captured this very well and it really speaks to me.

DeleteThis is a real dose of introspection. And, as rightly pointed out, if this thought to UNDO crops up a little early, things would be so different and nice. A powerful write★★
ReplyDeleteThanks Susmit :-)

DeleteThis is a very intense and good poem. Makes me think of how important it is to relish the present moment. We still have time to change and to forgive ourselves. Also made me think of the hell of regret while here on earth.
