The Golden Tree

The golden tree bows
Weary souls seeking shelter
We loot and plunder.

We loot and plunder
Gold crumbles in misery
Tree smiles patiently.

Tree smiles patiently
Mockery of creation
Dreams of sand, dissolve.

This Haiku is shared with Haiku Heights and the Prompt is Tree.

  1. The Golden Tree is worthy of its name. This composition holds deep meaning. I read it thrice to appreciate the way you have carved out meaning in this. I absolutely love reading your haiku. *thumbs up*

  2. Beautiful! The golden tree definitely seems like a patient one despite the plundering of 'man.'

  5. Ahh, how we have plundered from the earth as the trees have simply watched. Nicely told.

  15. Deep meaning in your cascade, Green Speck; philosophical thoughts using a human tree, lovely. A patient tree smiling at us..., yes, what are we compared to our wise Mother Nature?
The last line is powerful; we are dust yet our spirit will survive the tree...
    :)

  17. layers upon layers of meaning, tree is the metaphor for nature, giving its golden bounty to man who only to be plundered, hacked. Still smiling patiently. Loved it.
