Witch

Selfish society,
Superstitions rule the roost,
Degrading honor.

Degrading honor,
Innocence humiliates,
Her naked soul burns.

Her naked soul burns,
On pyre of false blemishes,
She, stained as a witch.

This Haiku is shared with Haiku Heights and the Prompt is Witch.

  6. "Degrading honor" indeed, and more with the fire . . . my favorite line of all three is "On pyre of false blemishes . . ."--so few words say so much!

A picture of old brought out. They were burnt on the pyre, that apparently happened many times. Nicely Green!

  16. Excellent, GS! You have hit the nail on its head.
As a woman I do thank you for this haiku since real witches are those women (or whatever) whose envy sends good, beautiful and honest women to the pyre, yesss!
