Courage - Haiku

Sinbad the Sailor,
An epitome of courage,
Voyages galore.

He marches ahead,
Galloping on the high waves,
Calm and confident.

Fortitude, within,
Destination of courage,
Sure sign of victory.

So... What Next - Chapter 1

She slipped her slender fingers through his broad palm, her long nails pinching his skin with a touch of radiance. The pink nail polish rendered a delicate essence to this scene of love, as he caressed her fingers with his own. Her left palm clubbed in his right, his fingers playing with the mysticism of her long beautiful nails. He held her hand tightly for a while, and she kept her head on his shoulder, a smile on their face, a  glow of contentment and love reflecting in their eyes.

Scenes like these had taken place numerous times in public environment, with me witnessing them from the corners of my eyes. How beautiful love was, so serene and calm, peaceful but with an intensity of craziness. My lonely heart had learnt to cope with these public display of affections, explaining to my soul that it's always best to stay single.

However, something didn't work out today. I got down from the bus in front of my office, but my mind was still engaged in the romantic endeavor of the couple.

I went into the washroom, poured cold water all over my face, and looked into the mirror. My vision was hazy, and I soon realized I washed my face without taking my spectacles off. I did that now, wiped the lenses, dried my face with the tissue papers, and went towards my desk.

"Good Morning Nitin," my colleagues wished me, as was the norm, and I answered them back, though a little absent minded today.

What was happening to me? Why was I so dim and low today? I tried to remember if any unnatural event took place since the morning, but I couldn't find any reason.

It then came to me like a flash of lightning. I sped straight to my manager's room.

"Sir," I started, "I need leave."

My manager, Mr. Satish Kumar, replied with his eyes still fixed on his laptop screen, "Ok. Which day?"

"Well... from tomorrow till 23rd," I answered nervously.

Satish Sir seemed shocked. He looked up at me, and said, "What? That's for 16 days. Are you mad?"

I hesitated, "Sir, I know it's asking too much. But you can provide me leave without any pay. I have no problems with that. It's really urgent for me to go."

"And where do you want to go, boy?" Sir inquired.

"Back to my hometown, Kolkata. It's urgent," I stressed on the last word.

"Hmm. Let me see. Project deliverable is on 19th, prior to that there is so much to do. What is so urgent? Are you getting married?" He tried to reason.

I looked at the desk, and replied, "No. I am not, but I may. I don't know as of now. I will update you accordingly Sir."

He seemed surprised. "Sit down, and tell me what's the case," he said calmly.

"Actually," I started, "My girlfriend, I mean my ex-girlfriend is getting married on 22nd."

"Hmm. So you want to attend her wedding?"

I knew what I was going to do was risky, there was no guarantee of success, but I had to do it, for me, for her, for us.

I looked at Satish Sir, and replied with a smile, "Yes Sir, I want to attend her wedding, and turn it into our wedding."

Chapter 2

Play With My Emotion

Play with my emotion,
Spiced up with your magic potion,
You may think am your slave,
But boy, I' m not that naive.

For every step I falter,
You inch closer to your altar,
Revenge has a new name,
Committing to it gives me no shame.

You dared to touch my wound,
Guaranteeing that you will be doomed,
Time has changed, it's my clock now,
You still have a chance, but I won't say how.

Shortcut

The roaring blue,
The dazzling hue,
The inimitable crowd,
Yeah, I wanna be proud,
Running ahead,
A confident stead,
I try to trace,
The shortcut to success.

Long lost birds,
Flying in herds,
Their beak all yellow,
Come let's follow,
To the world of vision,
Devoid of illusion,
Eyes determined,
Eager to find.

The shortcut to success,
I try to trace,
Ambitions, goals,
Burning our souls,
Thirst and hunger,
No more blunder,
A smile in my heart,
Playing the part.

I walk and walk,
In light and dark,
Awake or asleep,
My thoughts too deep,
The dreams I chase,
I trudge in this race,
I try to trace,
The shortcut to success.

The Man With The Abnormal Gait

Silent thoughts,
Flooding her mind,
The ocean of turmoil,
The swinging ship,
Lights buzzing,
Her eyes twinkling,
Patiently she waits,
For the man with the abnormal gait.

They met at the deck,
Piercing eyes grazing,
Cursing their love fest,
Oh time passed so soon,
It was the reign of the moon,
He promised to come,
Patiently she waits,
For the man with the abnormal gait.

Yes, that was the promise,
"I will come for dinner,
Dine with you,
For I'm your winner",
A kiss of wine,
The lust to shine,
Lost in embrace,
Savoring each other's taste.

The wine rests alone,
"Have it ma'am,
Perhaps he has gone",
So says the lawyer,
Words ache her heart,
Moisture passive in eyes,
Yet patiently she waits,
For the man with the abnormal gait.

"Tonight lets marry,
Shed the burden that we carry,
You, me, mine, your,
Our, we, us, of course",
Proposed she thus,
All around silence, hush, hush,
Their eyes spoke love,
Flying alongside the angelic doves.

"Dinner over,
We will exchange,
Rings of vows,
Union of two souls,
Wait for nine,
Then you will be mine,
Time won't lie,
Play with me, don't be shy."

Clock played along,
Did she decide wrong?
Despair,
Desperation,
Dejection,
Longing,
Her mind stretched for his touch,
The embrace, the kiss, all gone?

Sweet smell, aroma,
Of hope and joy,
Dancing in her heart,
"Yes, he will be here",
She smiled, she laughed,
Gazing at the door,
Unblinking, unflinching,
It won't be late, anymore.

And she does wait,
And wait,
And wait some more,
Yes, she waited,
And waited,
And waited,
Hopefully, patiently,
For the man with the abnormal gait.

All The World's A Stage

Her enigmatic smile robbed me of my sorrows, filling me with a desire so powerful that I failed to comprehend. It was a desire to smile, to be happy and enjoy what life had to offer. It was a desire to be thankful for what I had got, and patiently wait for what I hadn't. It was a desire to wish, a desire to dream, a desire to love.

Her dignity mystified me, while her beauty left me bewildered. Was she a nymph from the underworld, dressed in its finest attire and adopting a manner so delicate that it can lure the innocent men into the path of destruction? Or was she a messenger of God, an angel of peace and serenity, drowning itself in my eyes and taking over my heart? But no, she was a mere mortal, a just human, with all the morbid characteristics of the mortal self, and yet managing to rise above the savagery and drudgery of the earthly hardships to shine like a Princess of the Icy Peaks.

She was an illusion, not a vision, but a dream that I saw only in flashes. It was tough to relate her to the sour realities of life; she was just a cruel figment of my imagination.

In an instance she was gone.

I looked here and there, craned my neck sideways. Even a minute glimpse of her would be satisfying. My eyes pierced the corners of the vast auditorium, searching for the silken robe, the smile that lit the fire, the eyes that had passion flowing out of them. Her voice still rang in my ears, but the figure was no more there. I tried to draw her out from the strength of my memory, but it seemed vague, the picture that I managed to re-construct was full of misty ideas, cluttering the vacancies in my heart, diluting the love that was dying to find a way out.

Silence. And then there was a loud roar. A roar of applause. The audiences rose from their seat, preparing to leave. The elderly couple beside me moved out happily, chatting away the beauty of the play that they seemed to have enjoyed. A few minutes passed, and I was the only one left behind. The lights above grew dimmer, the shadows disappeared, and I started towards the exit gate.

I reached the exit, and looked back instinctively towards the stage where the play was enacted, hoping to catch a glimpse of her. I saw nothing. The lights were turned off by now, but I felt her soft touch leading me towards the brightness of the day, away from the monotonicity and darkness of the night.

All the world's a stage, with the two of us now dancing to its music, commencing along the acts, exhibiting passionate power play.

Stars - Haiku

Stars being the prompt,
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star,
Diving back in time.

-------------------------------

Love, lust, whatever,
Starry eyes await the balm,
Time healing all wounds.

-------------------------------

Dancing to the rhythm,
Moon awakes the swaying crest,
Born to be a star.

--------------------------------

Richness in her name,
Poverty strikes another,
Can't control your stars.

Friday !!!

The much awaited Friday is here. It feels great to wake up on this day, savoring the sweet aroma of the last working day of the week.

Saturday and Sunday will follow soon, and I got to ensure that the weekends do not go away in haste.

For starters, I will try to wake up earlier than usual. My work consists of staying up late, due to which I also sleep till late in the afternoon. However, sleeping late makes me feel guilty on weekends, as I feel I am losing away the precious hours allotted to me for spending the two days in a constructive way. Again, less sleep usually spoils my mood, leaving an irritating taste in my mind.

What I need is the right balance.

I have to write something good this weekend. I am planning this since the last many weeks, but time doesn't seem to permit. True, everyone has the same 24 hours. Perhaps, I am not that good in time management. Have a lot to learn in this regard.

So what do I plan to write? Probably a fiction, a series story like I did in the past. I don't intend to write another horror story, nor a second social drama so soon. Rather, my wish is to pen down a love story, on the backdrop of a superhuman series.

Yes, something like Spiderman, Batman, Superman.

The idea eludes me. Hope I can use my gray cells constructively in the next few hours to devise a plot for my story. I am dying to do another series, as I feel it's challenging to write in real time, planning a new chapter everyday.

What else would I do? Perhaps reading books, playing PC games, and strumming my guitar, apart from chatting with my family.

Weekends really are fun. And Friday is indeed magical. Hope you all have a great day today :-)

Till then, Love Your Life and Live Your Life :-)

Talent - Haiku

Weave castles in sand,
Dreams shaped in myriad grains,
Shining bright with hope.

Waves run with passion,
Destruction and creation,
Talent stays, survives.

Embracing challenge,
New found zeal and energy,
He begins again.

Castle stands erect,
Symbolizes his talent,
Eyes brimming with pride.
