In Hues Orange And Silvery Red

in hues orange and
silvery red
we greeted the sunset
on this deathbed
when time trickled
like shadowy drops
and world enacted
those staged props
came our promises
of togetherness, forever
separation would be
oh never, oh never

you held my hands
and whispered sweet kisses
life has been long, and short
with blessed wishes and dreaded misses

and as the sun swam past the lake
birds rushed home amidst clouds and waves
you looked into my eyes, and I knew it then
a silent wind blew, and I couldn't fathom when
love was this, in sparkling glitter
a journey that was sweet, sour and bitter
and yet it was us, and it was true
it was me, and it was you
we remained still, but time flew
our breathes wouldn't last, this we knew
and with every sweeping tide the sunset grew
teaching us life, and gifting us death
a mystic puzzle, and we never find the clue

  2. "life has been long, and short
with blessed wishes and dreaded misses" - I love this because it captures the essence of life doesn't it? And I love how his thoughts on the deathbed were all about love. Because in the end, that's all that really matters...

  3. ... sigh. There is so much that passes through one's mind and heart when facing our mortality ... or watching another do the same.

  11. This is a sweeping poem, like a panoramic photo. There is mush in this, not just a pretty description of a sunset.
